Chinese Steamed Egg

Difficulty: Easy

Serves: 2 – 3 people

Ingredients:

  • 3 Eggs
  • 300ml Warm Water
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 1/8 tsp White Pepper
  • 1 Salted Egg Yolk
  • 2 Shallots (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp ELAIESE Red Palm Oil
  • 1 tbsp Spring Onions (chopped)
  • 2 tsp Light Soy Sauce for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Crack the eggs into a large bowl. Lightly beat the eggs and slowly add in the warm water. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. Strain the egg mixture into a shallow heatproof bowl or plate.
  3. Break the salted egg yolk into small chunks and add into the egg mixture; scattering around the mixture.
  4. Cover the egg with a cling wrap and gently place the bowl onto a prepared steamer. Steam the egg on low heat for 7 minutes or until set.
  5. Meanwhile, fry the shallots with red palm oil over a medium heat pan until golden brown and set aside.
  6. Sprinkle the shallots and spring onions on the steamed egg and lightly pour some soy sauce over it before serving.
